Striking pair of French bronze gypsy women by artist, Leon Pilet (1836-1917). He was a renowned artist known for mainly his small and medium size bronze sculptures. He has had many of his pieces sell at auction in the several thousands. I think these are sculpted with the most wonderful details! I hope you can see here in my video how intricate they are. Cold painted over bronze in a subtle shade of red and a hint of gold gilt. These are true works of art standing at 16” and 15” inches high by 5.25”. Base is a reddish stone, likely marble. Heavy weight, signed on the side of the base. Overall condition is excellent. Date late 19thc.
